HOW TO TRAIN FOR YOUR BIKE TOUR
Below is a training schedule that will get you prepared for almost any tour. The most challenging aspect of cycle touring is being able to get onto the bike day after day, not how quickly you can complete a distance.
With this in mind, extended time on the bike over consecutive days is paramount when training so that you get used to the long rides and short recovery times.
This schedule is aimed at beginners, however, the basics are the same for everyone. More experienced riders can jump in at around week 4 and simply increase the distances once you pass week 8.
If you intend to be cycling more than 70-90km a day you should extend your training by a few weeks to accommodate the extra distance.
